The 12th North Sea

OFFSHORE CRANES & LIFTING CONFERENCE

The Norwegian Society of Lifting technology (NSLT) together with the Offshore Mechanical Handling Equipment Committee (OMHEC) are

again proud to sponsor this years North Sea Offshore Cranes & Lifting Conference. Every year the conference alternates between the “oil capitals”

of Stavanger in Norway and Aberdeen in Scotland - these are the most important places of business for the North Sea oil and gas industry and home

to regulators, the major duty holders, oil and gas contractors and service companies etc. During the conference, delegates will have the chance

to meet and share their experiences with experts and industry leaders from the offshore crane and lifting operations environment. This year there

is an even greater range of lectures covering such diverse subjects as what’s new in offshore cranes and lifting technology,subsea and heavy lifting,

crane standardisation and regulatory and industry safety initiatives. Delegates will have ample opportunity to enter into discussions with the lecturers

and spend time interacting with the companies demonstrating their goods and services in the exhibition area. NSLT and OMHEC believe attending

this conference is essential for those passionate about achieving excellence in offshore crane management and promoting safe lifting operations within their

The Norwegian Society of Lifting Technology NSLT

 

NSLT was founded in 1979 and has approx. 400 members, both companies and individuals, related to design, fabrication, hire, inspection

and certifi cation and operations of lifting appliances and lifting gear. NSLT participates in national and international standardisation

and its members are national delegates to NTS, CEN, ISO and NORSOK Working Groups.

NSLT shall:

• co-operate with relevant authorities develop and unifi ed understanding and code of practice for regulations and regulations concerning lifting equipment.

• prepare guidelines and other suggestions, which can contribute to a completion, further development and increased quality of lifting regulations.

• map responsibilities concerning activities related production, certifi cation and use of lifting equipment.

• make contact with and co-operate with national and foreign institutions, authorities, enterprises and related societies in order to promote the safety in lifting operations.

 

The Offshore Mechanical Handling Equipment Committee OMHEC

 

OMHEC is comprised of members from the United Kingdom, Norway, Denmark, and the Netherlands all of whom are involved with

the safety of lifting equipment and lifting operations offshore. OMHEC is also the adviser for the North Sea Offshore Authorities

Forum (NSOAF) in matters related to lifting offshore, formally stated in an agreement between the two parties and signed in the

spring of 2006. Members represent regulatory authorities, such as from the Danish Energy Authority, the Netherlands State Supervision

of Mines, the Petroleum Safety Authority-Norway and the UK Health and Safety Executive. OMHEC also includes e.g. industry

organizations, independentverifi cations bodies, classifi cation societies and other relevant organizations.

OMHEC’s objectives are to contribute to improved safety in offshore lifting operations and to be the arena for harmonizing good

practice in lifting operations offshore in the North Sea area. In this respect the exchange of information concerning accidents and incidents

plays an important part in the work of OMHEC.
